The 1966 Chevrolet Corvair Lowrider, known as “Low Wild,” is a custom-built vehicle by Romain Roulleau of New Ride in Norges-la-Ville, France. This unique creation gained international attention when it was showcased at the 2017 SEMA (Specialty Equipment Market Association) show in Las Vegas, particularly at the House of Kolor booth.
Build History and Features:
• Design and Paint: The Corvair features a distinctive House of Kolor Maori paint scheme with gold leaf Maori tattoo designs in green phosphorescent ice pearl. The intricate tribal murals were crafted by Tattoo by Tamo, contributing to its standout appearance.
• Body Modifications: Significant customizations include shaved body panels and suicide doors, enhancing its sleek and unique profile.
• Interior: The interior is adorned with Havana leather upholstery, custom gauges, and LED lighting, providing a luxurious and modern ambiance. Laurent of Superb’ Sellerie in Auxerre, France, executed the interior work.
• Audio System: Equipped with a Pioneer head unit, the sound system includes three Vibe amplifiers, Vibe crossover, speakers, and subwoofers, delivering high-quality audio performance.
• Hydraulics: The vehicle is fitted with a hydraulic system featuring two chrome pumps from Showtime Hydraulics, installed by New Ride, allowing adjustable ride height and the classic lowrider stance.
• Engine: The stock 140 cubic inch engine underwent enhancements, including painting and chroming, with custom ITG and exhaust components. Julien Pitault from Pitault Garage in Dijon, France, managed the engine work, while Cuinik of Cuinik Chrome handled the chroming.
